On Thursday March 17th, LJAA held its' Artist Reception for the current Exhibition. It was a fine spring day to enjoy good company, fine art, tasty nibbles and a glass of wine. The event provided an opportunity to enjoy the company of fellow artists and gather with friends, new and old, to celebrate our exhibitors.

Please plan to join us for our next Reception honoring our April/May Exhibition set for Thursday, April 21 from 3-5pm.

On Thursday, March 24th, the La Jolla Art Association will host a demonstration of Oil Painting with Member Artist, Dottie Stanley.

Dottie has been a representational painter all her life; with roots in New Jersey, she studied at the Art Students’ League in New York and she has taken workshops with famous artists such as David Leffel, Everett Raymond Kintsler, Marybeth Mackenzie and others. She attended the San Francisco Art Institute. She has received numerous awards - the latest one being at the 2019 Del Mar Fine Art Exhibition for best figure painting and the coveted Coordinator's Award. Her style is dramatic lights and shadows and sometimes her art has a forlorn quality. Her expertise is in her portraits and figure painting.

The demo will be held at the La Jolla Community Center from 3:00-5:00pm. Light refreshments will be served and attendees are also welcome to tour our artist galleries throughout the La Jolla Community Center.
