This month La Jolla Art Association's art demonstration features member Julie Sanderson demonstrating Silk Painting. The demo will be held Thursday, September 22nd from 4-6pm at La Jolla Community Center.
Julie is a talented artist and works in multiple mediums including Oil, Pastel and Mixed Media. "Silk is the newest medium I have been exploring. The shimmering surface of silk and vibrant colors of fiber-reactive dyes seem a great way to share my scuba diving experiences. Diving as deep as 120 feet to explore old wrecks, beautiful fish and interesting creatures, I gather images and inspiration. For reference, I use my husband’s radiant underwater photographs taken on our trips around the world. Silk is also a perfect medium for flowers, other images and wearable art." This demonstration is free and open to the public. It starts at 4pm on Thursday, September 22nd at LJCC. Please plan to join us for what will be a fascinating look a unique art form.
